On this page we will be posting follow up stories and pictures of cats and kittens we have cared for or placed for adoption. Many of the stories came back to us from happy adopters who are enjoying the ca-r-ma cat in their life.

When Pebbles was a baby, she and her sister and two brothers were found abandoned in a box in the woods. The tiny kittens were cold, hungry and close to death. Sadly, her sister Blossom did not survive, but Pebbles was determined to live. Slowly but surely, she began to thrive in a ca-r-ma foster home. Soon she and her brothers, Silverado and Trooper, were ready for their forever homes. The photo below shows Pebbles in April 2010 surrounded by gifts at her first birthday party. Celebrating with her were her mom Kelly and her sisters Moussy and Chloe.
Chloe, shown below, was brought in to a local vet when she was found badly injured. She had a an old injury where her hip and leg had been cracked or broken and new damage to several ribs. She was only a few months old, but her rescuer exepcted she would have to be put down. The Doctor who saw her felt she had probalby been kicked and abused and he was determined to save her. Meanwhile, ca-r-ma volunteer Kelly was dealing with the death of her beautiful black princess, Spooky. She told friends that she did not think she could bear to adopt again, but if she did it would be a black lady kitten. When she saw Chloe, she knew this kitten needed her and for Chloe it was love at first sight. A year later and fully healed, Chloe is happily sharing her home with her sisters Pebbles (pictured with her below) and Moussy.
This just in from a Moncton adopter:
"Just wanted to give you an update on Joel. First off, my son Jacob has renamed him Charlie, after his kindergarten mascot.
Charlie has settled in nicely with the family. He has adapted well to the change and to our dog. He's still a little timid around our terrier/beagle Tyler, but also knows how to hold his ground. He's sleeping through the night which is great for us."

When Shyla was a baby living under a mini home, her right eye was injured and she developed a terrible infection. The pain was so bad she became lethargic and almost stopped eating, but she could not resist the smell of tuna in a ca-r-ma trap and that probably saved her life. Shyla had never been handled before, but she was suffering so much she passively accepted treatment. Antibiotic salve didn't work and the vets at Maritime had to sew the eye shut so it could heal. To avoid putting the little girl under anesthetic twice, they also spayed her despite her tiny size. There was an anxious wait unti the stitches came out. Would the baby girl be blind? Would the infected eye have to be removed? The fateful day came and Shyla (picutured above while her eye was sewn shut) was able to see just fine although her right eye does not open quite as wide as her other one. Perhaps because of all she'd been through, she grew into a confident little kitten with attitude and was adopted by a family that has a dog (top photo) who is now her good friend.
